Geneva – 06 July 2009British disc jockey Fatboy Slim is the latest addition to the lineup of entertainers at the Paléo music festival in Nyon (Vaud) later this month. Slim is set to perform on the main stage on July 24 in place of French Rap act NTM, who last week cancelled their show at the event.
The English DJ, whose real name is Norman Cook, mixes records alone on stage and is known for whipping up a party atmosphere among the audience with his mainstream big beat dance music. Last month a magistrate’s court in Paris sentencd Joey Starr, one of the leaders of the group NTM, to two years in jail for violent assault.
He is only obliged to serve six months of the term, but his appeal to delay the start of the sentence was refused. As a result, the group had to cancel their Swiss gig. Festival goers who had hoped to see NTM can exchange or sell their tickets via the paleo.ch website. Fatboy Slim is set to play at midnight.
